Crosby County Jail Release Paths
Crosby County Jail is a county jail operated by the Crosby County Sheriff's Office. Its role includes local pretrial detention, local sentences, holds, and transfer processing. It is not a TDCJ prison. A person may leave for the community on bond or personal bond, after dismissal or acquittal, for time served, at sentence completion, or under another court order.
The same closing event can instead record transfer to another county, TDCJ, or an agency acting on a warrant or detainer. That movement is a release from this facility's physical control, but it is not release from custody as a whole. Ask what destination or receiving agency appears on the booking entry.

Confirm a Crosby County Jail Release
The official Crosby County Sheriff page does not publish a jail roster, release feed, booking-photo gallery, or archive. Its custody direction still names VINELink, while current Texas county notification instructions lead to IVSS-Counties after the September 1, 2025 migration.

- Compare identifiers and the participating source. Do not treat a no-result as a release.
- Call the Sheriff at 806-675-7301 and ask whether the booking ended in community release or transfer.
- Request the booking/release entry with date, time, type, and receiving agency or destination.
- Obtain the matching bond, order, judgment, or disposition from the correct clerk.

Aspen Street, Crosbyton, Texas 79322, but does not confirm a jail suite, dedicated records email, records counter hours, or a mailing address specifically for jail requests. Confirm the delivery address before sending a request.

Ask for existing records sufficient to show the full name and identifier, booking number, admission date and time, arresting agency, charge and cause number, bond entry, physical release date and time, release type, and destination if transferred. Request only fields that exist and are public.
Request a Crosby Jail Release Entry
Crosby publishes no dedicated Sheriff open-records form, portal, local fee schedule, or turnaround promise. Texas Government Code Chapter 552 allows a request for existing public information, subject to confidentiality and exceptions. A body need not create a new report or answer a narrative question.
- Identify one person and booking with date of birth or another lawful identifier.
- Give the approximate admission date, cause number, and a narrow time span.
- Ask for records sufficient to show the admission and physical release or transfer event.
- Request electronic copies and an itemized cost estimate before processing if charges apply.
- If material is withheld, ask the custodian to identify the statutory basis.
Government Code §552.234 recognizes approved written delivery by mail, email, hand delivery, electronic portal, or another accepted method. Call first because Crosby has not published which channel is designated for jail records. “Promptly” means without unreasonable delay, not a universal ten-business-day production deadline.

Crosby Jail and Court Records Differ
The jail event answers when physical custody ended and whether another agency received the person. The court file answers why detention or release was authorized. A signed bond order may precede posting and jail clearance. A dismissal may precede administrative processing. A TDCJ sentence produces transfer rather than community release.

Transfers from Crosby County Jail
Crosby's transfer risk is not hypothetical in its history. Commissioners Court minutes show approval of a Castro County Jail contract in October 2019 and a Lubbock County Jail contract in July 2021. Those documents do not prove that either contract remains active in 2026, and they do not establish where any named person is housed today.
They do show why “Crosby case” and “inside Crosby County Jail” have not always meant the same thing. Ask the Sheriff which facility actually held the booking and on what date custody moved. Then contact the receiving jail. Never infer community release from disappearance from a Crosby-facing source.
TDCJ Transfers from Crosby Jail
A person sentenced to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice becomes a state prisoner after state admission. The TDCJ current-inmate search accepts an exact last name with at least a first initial, a TDCJ number, or a SID number. Gender and race can narrow results. The system updates on working days, is at least 24 hours old, and contains only current TDCJ inmates, so a recent transfer may not appear at once.
If the person later leaves TDCJ and disappears from that current-only search, email pia@tdcj.texas.gov with the full name and seven-digit TDCJ number. If the number is unknown, provide exact date of birth, or approximate age and county of conviction. Ask for incarceration history, physical release, release type, parole or mandatory-supervision commencement, and final discharge. A TDCJ projection or parole approval is not proof that physical release occurred.
Crosby Jail ICE Detainer Limits
No official evidence located an ICE detention center or current ICE contract in Crosby County. That absence does not decide an individual case. If a Crosby booking entry names an immigration detainer or agency pickup, identify the receiver before selecting the next search.
The ICE Online Detainee Locator concerns current immigration detention and is not a historical release archive. Search by A-number and country of birth or complete biographical fields. A no-result may reflect transfer, release, mismatch, or data limits. Call the ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line at 888-351-4024 and ask for the responsible office or facility. Release from the Crosby criminal booking does not establish release from separate civil immigration custody.
Crosby County Jail Online Limits
The official county page has no 24-hour or 72-hour releases, released tab, current roster, booking photograph, archive window, update cadence, sheriff app, or official social release stream. IVSS-Counties can work on a phone, but it is a statewide notification portal rather than a Crosby Sheriff app. Third-party roster pages cannot establish the official event.

The absence of a local result list on that page makes a direct named inquiry necessary for an official release event.
No official release hours, exit door, weekend process, property-return method, family waiting area, transportation option, bond schedule, or pretrial-services procedure was established. Call before traveling and ask where release processing occurs, whether it is complete, how property is returned, and whether the person was transferred. Do not import instructions from Lubbock or another jail.
About Crosby County Jail
The Texas Commission on Jail Standards explicitly named Crosby County Jail in a September 2024 notice. The county's FY2026 proposed budget retains a separate Department 31-JAIL and proposed lines for jail deputies, prisoner food, prisoner medical care, and other prisoner expenses. These official materials support current facility operation, but they provide no capacity, current population, release count, or release schedule.
The 2024 notice concerned mental-health screening notification rather than release lookup. It should not be stretched into a claim about release operations. Likewise, the county budget proves a jail department, not the status of any person.
Where Crosby Jail Releases Go
A confirmed community release can lead to no supervision, local probation, or another court-ordered condition, depending on the case. Parole and mandatory supervision apply after TDCJ release, not merely after an ordinary county-jail exit. A court community-supervision order and the Crosby CSCD office can verify probation where disclosure is lawful.
A transfer requires a different locator. Another county jail controls its own current record. TDCJ controls state custody. BOP covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward, while ICE covers current immigration detention. A “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” result means BOP physical custody ended, not that no other authority holds the person. The event record and receiving-agency field are what prevent a transfer from being mislabeled as freedom.
